The Second Story

After a house fire in 2020, a resilient family of four returned to a long-held dream: transforming their midcentury ranch into a forever home. What began as a repair project quickly evolved into a full-scale renovation. The design strategy centered on maintaining the home’s connection to the neighborhood while creating new interior volume and outdoor living opportunities. A front porch addition redefines the entry sequence and strengthens the home’s street presence. Completed in 2022, the remodel honors the existing structure while doubling its livable space through a two-story addition and interior reconfiguration.
