What is the best use and legacy of an international foundation founders home located on a large farm 35 miles from a major city in the Southeastern United States? How can the result of the design support the foundations core principles as well as other nonprofits from the surrounding region around the facility?

We plan to convert the Joachim Herz personal home and property into a retreat facility for the orientation of interns in the Stiftung exchange programs entering and leaving the US. Create some 3 informal function rooms with a central flexible space to gather. Retain the homes kitchen for staff and enhance facilities to coordinate with external catering needs. Retain elements of site memory about the founder, house, and art. Make the facility available to other nonprofits in the region that share the Stiftung core values.
