Peachtree Circle Residence
This single family home in historic Ansley Park of Atlanta, Georgia had been used for decades as a five-unit apartment house. During this time it was poorly maintained and inappropriate additions had been made. Although it suffered neglect, new owners recognized the structure as a historic treasure, and they called Jones Pierce to reclaim its former glory. The Jones Pierce architects rehabilitated the home so that it now thrives as it was originally intended, as a single family home, with inspired spaces that fit a family's needs. We designed the public spaces on street level with bedrooms on the second floor. The back of the structure was redesigned to retain the original look, while producing four quality exterior elevations. The roof was also refitted to accommodate a guest suite and playroom. Following initial renovation by the Petrees, the home was sold in 2004 –in just two days. The new owners engaged Jones Pierce to create a guest suite above the garage as well as a porch and fireplace to coordinate with the previous work. We extend a special thank you to both owners for having the vision to transform an eyesore into an exceptional place to live in Ansley Park.
