This custom house design has a great story behind it. Located on a tight corner lot in the Lynwood park neighborhood of Brookhaven, the concept behind the design is a home that looks as if it has been here for decades and the neighborhood developed around it. A southern facing front porch orients the house towards the corner and creates a side entry porch from the east facade similar to a Charleston home. A tight budget led to a simple plan composed of 2 forms that takes into account conventional lumber dimensions to minimize construction waste and account for every square inch.
This Lifetime Home features a designated area for a future elevator, planned rooms for future kids, multi-use rooms that can function as an office or guest bedroom, and several other “Not so Big House” ideas to maximize spatial impact of such a small home. Despite it’s small size, we didn’t sacrifice on exterior and interior detailing to make this home feel as if it were a true original southern colonial that’s been here for decades.
