Recently, clients from Montana got in touch with Jones Pierce to help them create a “not so big” retirement home for them in the Big Canoe community of North Georgia located near Jasper. The home not only incorporates “not so big” detailing, but it’s also designed around the sun. Known as a passive solar design, this homes aim is to maintain interior thermal comfort throughout the sun’s daily and annual cycles while reducing the requirement for active heating and cooling systems. This sustainable design method has been around for ages, and is one of the unseen “green” features we like to incorporate into the early planning phases of a home. Stay tuned as we post more on this project and include more green and sustainable features that every home should be able to achieve.
