When one talks of Atlanta being a city of neighborhoods, Virginia-Highalnds is invariably mentioned as the model for a district that excels in holding live, work and play in equal measure. Charming homes are in abundance, and our participation in holding to those high architectural standards has been consistent. The following are some of our favorite projects of this and adjoining Morningside neighborhood.

A long-neglected bungalow with excellent masonry detailing is significantly expanded by new owners and re-themed as Tudor. Original 1-story at 1,478square feet. Remodeled 2-story built on existing footprint at 3,472 square feet

A one-story brick ranch is transformed using the existing brick cladding into a whimsical Tudor manor house. The existing footprint was reused to the extent of incorporating an existing dining room brick-lined bay window into a new two story semi-hexagonal oriel.

Poorly planned additions were removed and a second level added over the existing original footprint to create an entirely new aesthetic. 1,743 square foot 1-story expanded to 2,830 two-story. The new modern aesthetic the client preferred was kept to the rear of the house while refurbishing the front only to preserve the home’s bungalow appearance from the street. Photos were taken towards the end of construction.
