A “semi-retired” couple from Atlanta came to Jones Pierce to design a retirement home for them on a Lake Lanier property that has been in their family for a several years.  The couple wanted to build a quality heirloom home that could be passed down for generations to come and would remain in the family. One requirement was to build a home that could handle the entire family including their children and several grand children when they visited. Rooms filled with walls of windows allow for an influx of natural light and 180 degree views of the lake. A covered porch, a large patio with a pergola, and a lower level screened porch allow the family to double the size of their living spaces by merging the indoors with the outdoors. The siting of the house puts the lower level into the ground for a easy walk out to the lake and gives the home a modest 1-story appearance from the street.
