On October 24th, 2007, AIA Atlanta presented Cooper Pierce with the Presidential Citation for his work and dedication in leading the AIA Atlanta Infill Housing Task Force. The Infill Housing Task Force served as a neutral party in identifying and facilitating a community participation process with all of the neighborhood planning units within the City of Atlanta. The panel also served as an invaluable resource to the city in drawing up recommendations for changes to be made within the Zoning Ordinances.
On November 5th, 2007, Cooper Pierce and the Infill Housing Task Force were recognized with a proclamation honoring their recent work for the city. The work of the Task Force led to the amendment of the 1982 Zoning Ordinance to enact new regulations on infill housing, and their recommendations were an important part of the policy decision that now protects established and historic neighborhoods, while still allowing for orderly redevelopment and growth.
This new residence, located in the historic Inman Park district of Atlanta, presented a unique opportunity for Jones Pierce to create and construct a contemporary, open interior home that would also adhere to Historic Preservation guidelines.
