Cooper Pierce, AIA
Commercial Studio Principal

Architect Cooper Pierce has a clear mission: to provide the best design for the budget through thoughtful, functional, sustainable design and to be the client’s problem-solver. Because teamwork is key, Cooper brings contractors in at the earliest stages of the build process. This not only complements his dedication to client stewardship, it also assures that all involved work together in collaboration from the start.

Cooper’s devotion to creating quality, one-on-one relationships with every client stems from having spent his first 12 years in the business at corporate interior design and architecture firms. It was there he mastered his meticulous attention-to-detail—designs with a purpose, not just for design sake. Past commercial interior clients Georgia-Pacific and Delta’s Cincinnati hub are familiar with this aspect of Cooper’s working style. Clients Pope & Land, Highwoods, Gay Construction, Brasfield & Gorrie, and more have discovered, and benefited from, his details-driven passion.

In 1997, Cooper and Bryan Jones collaborated on a residential project. It proved to be a natural segue into partnership. Jones Pierce Architects was then created.

Lately, Cooper’s been getting press—and awards— for the design of his own residence from the Atlanta chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and for compatible new construction in an existing neighborhood from Atlanta’s Urban Design Commission. And as a proponent of environmentally conscious and sustainable design, he sees energy efficiency as just another part of the job.

Cooper’s most gratifying achievement is delivering a well-designed, sustainable product that functions in the most aesthetically pleasing way. In other words, being there for his clients, in the inspired places, and the comfortable spaces, where people want to live.
