In 1994, Bryan learned that just two percent of all custom residential projects are guided by architects. This statistic so impacted him, it became the force behind his new firm’s engagement process. This process that gives clients more control over how much they choose to spend, produces quality work without associated ego challenges, and involves collaboration with contractors and clients through the completion of construction. A process that encourages people to leverage the skills of architects to assure optimal results.
This approach enables Bryan to be an outstanding client-advocate. Simplifying the design and construction process of the company continues to be his personal mission today.
Graduating from Auburn University in 1985, Bryan spent his early professional years with a national interior design agency where he learned how to provide top-level service, tailor effective work space, and get designs built for clients such as IBM, Carlton Fields, and Freeman and Hawkins. This experience transitioned well to single-family, residential design— the focus of the firm he initially founded. In 1997, Bryan was joined by Cooper Pierce to add a commercial side to the firm.
From interior reconfigurations and in-town add-ons, to enhancing the value of existing homes, Bryan approaches each job with the same philosophy: space is precious. Bryan excels at collecting a client’s vision and personal desires for their space and returning often not one considered plan but several options for how to proceed which speak to style, cost and sustainability. Since the firm’s inception, Bryan has also been attuned to green technology, guiding his clients to the benefits of environmentally sensitive housing. Being acutely process-oriented, he explains each step to clients, thereby demystifying the great unknowns of home building and renovation.
A frequent speaker and expert resource—he was recently quoted in the Wall Street Journal—Bryan’s definition of a successful project is one that blends inspired design with simplified client decisions and a stress-free build.
